Getting around
Joints and fit
Tabs on the walls fit slots in the base and lid. Set their width and how tight they fit.
- Tabs too tight to push in: raise Slot play by 0.05 mm at a time.
- Tabs loose: lower Slot play, or check your kerf.
- Removable lid sticks: raise Lid gap.
- Slots right at the edge of a letter's base (Letters): raise Base rim, so the base reaches past the walls and keeps a solid edge.
- Wall in two halves (Hinge Box): splits a long wall into two strips, so each fits a smaller bed.
Options
- Tab width3 mm or more · step 0.5 mm
- The width of the tabs on the wall that fit slots in the base (and a fixed lid).
- Slot play-0.5 mm or more · step 0.05 mm
- Extra room in each slot for its tab. Raise it if tabs are too tight to push in; use a small negative value for a press fit.
- Lid gap0 mm or more · step 0.05 mm
- Room between a removable lid's lip and the wall, so the lid lifts off without sticking.
- Ring width3 to 40 mm · step 0.5 mm
- How wide the support ring is. It sits on the base, just inside the wall, so the hinge has a shoulder to glue to.

- Base rim0 to 50 mm · step 0.5 mm
- How far the base and lid reach past the outside of the walls. The tab slots then sit this far in from the edge, so the edge stays solid; 0 keeps the plates flush with the walls.
- Lid gap0 mm or more · step 0.05 mm
- Room between a removable lid's lip and the wall, so the lid lifts off without sticking.
