Getting around
Project files (.oclc)
Back up a design, or move it to another computer, with its pictures and uploaded fonts inside.
Every section saves the same kind of file, with the .oclc extension. File › Save project (Ctrl+S) asks where to save the first time; after that it saves over the same file without asking. File › Save project as… (Ctrl+Shift+S) saves a new file. The title shows the file's name, with a dot while there are unsaved changes.
File › Open project… (Ctrl+O), or dropping a file on the editor, opens any .oclc file in the section that made it: a Clock file opens in Clock, a Studio file in Studio. Older .hingelab.json and .hingelab files open too. Opening a project is one step: Ctrl+Z returns to the design you had.
File › Import… (Ctrl+I) brings things into the design you have open: a project's settings, a font in Letters, a 3D model or photo in Parametric, a picture or drawing (SVG, DXF, PNG, JPEG) in a generator's picture field, and drawings and pictures in Studio.
Browsers that cannot save over a file (Firefox and Safari) download a new copy at each save.
- The file holds every setting, the pictures in the design and the fonts you uploaded that it uses (up to eight).
- Opening the file on another device adds those fonts to that device, so the text looks the same.
- 3D models and photos imported into Parametric are kept on the device that imported them; import them again after opening the project elsewhere.
- Your design is also autosaved in this browser as you work; a project file is the copy you keep.
