Job estimate: length, time and cost

How long the cuts are, how much is engraved, how long the job takes on your machine and what the material costs.

The Job estimate card sits under the checks in every editor, and the export window repeats it as the Job summary. It is measured from the file you export, so it matches what your laser will do.

  • Cut and Score: the total length of the cut and score lines, and how many separate paths they make.
  • Engrave: the engraved area (filled shapes and pictures).
  • Material: the area of the parts (holes left out) and how much of the sheets that is.

Job time

  • HingeLab does not guess laser speeds. The time uses the speeds saved with your material (Materials…), or the speeds you enter under “Your speeds” for the machine, which are kept on this device for each machine.
  • Engraving time is the engraved area divided by your line interval, at your engrave speed. Travel between paths uses the machine's top speed.
  • Acceleration, corners and air assist are not modelled, so a real job usually takes a little longer: time a test and adjust your speeds.

Material cost

Enter what one sheet costs (and your currency). The card shows the cost of the sheets the design uses and the share for the parts alone, which helps when you price a product.
