Letter Box

Box walls that follow your letters, as a living hinge or as flat panels, with optional marquee light holes.

A letter box with flat panels
  • Living-hinge walls: each outline and counter gets one bendable strip. Sharp corners are rounded to the corner radius so the hinge can follow them; seams land on flat stretches. Tick Corner radius follows the hinge to let the hinge settings decide it.
  • Flat-panel walls: each outline is approximated by flat panels within the tolerance. Square corners get finger joints; other corners are glued.
  • Small pieces such as dots and accents can be cut flat (to glue on top, or stacked to full height) or left out.
  • Marquee holes put a row of light holes in the lid (or the base of an open tray).

Options

Depth10 to 600 mm · step 1 mm
The height of the letter box walls.
Corner R0 to 200 mm · step 0.5 mm
The tightest curve the hinge wall must follow. Sharper corners of the letters are rounded to this radius.
Tolerance0.1 to 20 mm · step 0.1 mm
How far the flat panels may stray from the letter's curve. A smaller tolerance follows curves closely with more, narrower panels.
Min panel5 to 200 mm · step 1 mm
The narrowest flat panel. Shorter stretches are merged so no panel is too small to handle.
Max wall50 to 5000 mm · step 10 mm
The longest wall strip in one piece. Longer walls are split at a flat stretch, so each piece fits the sheet.
Island mm²0 to 100000 · step 10
Pieces smaller than this area (in mm²) are not boxed: dots and accents are cut flat or left out instead.

Marquee holes

Hole dia2 to 100 mm · step 0.5 mm
The diameter of the holes for marquee lights in the lid or base.
Spacing4 to 500 mm · step 1 mm
The distance between marquee holes along each letter.
Margin1 to 100 mm · step 0.5 mm
How far the marquee holes stay from the letter's edges.
