Hinge Box

Living-hinge boxes: rounded, pill, polygon or cylinder, with lids.

Open generator

Pro is required to save and export this generator. Free can preview it.

How to use it

  1. Open the generator and pick a preset, or start from the defaults.
  2. Set the size, material thickness and kerf. Run the checks before you cut.
  3. Look at the sheet and the 3D view. Export is available on Pro.

Questions

Box shape and lid

Pill, Polygon and Cylinder are Pro shapes; you can preview them on the Free plan.

Dimensions

All sizes are outside sizes, base and lid included. The corner radius matters most: the hinge has to bend round it, so a small radius needs a softer hinge. Bend Analysis checks it for you.

Hinge pattern

A living hinge is a field of parallel slits that lets a stiff sheet bend. Each bar between the slits twists a little, and hundreds of small twists add up to a curve.

Auto-fit picks the stiffest hinge that still reaches your corner radius with a 30% safety margin. Stiffer means fewer cuts, less charring and a stronger wall.

Bend Analysis

Bend Analysis works out the tightest radius the hinge can reach from the torsion-bar strain of your material, and compares it with your corners.

The minimum radius is an engineering estimate. Cut a bend test strip (Sheet section) in your own material before the whole box.
